What are your fees?

The fee for a 50-minute therapy session is $240. These rates are in line with those recommended by the BC Psychological Association.

Rates for psychodiagnostic and psychoeducational assessments vary depending on the type of assessment required. Please send us an email for more information.

Payment can be made via credit card or email transfer. Clients will be provided with an official receipt indicating your psychologist's college registration number to submit for reimbursement through available extended health plans if applicable.

Question 2

What is your cancellation policy?

Our clinicians have a full schedule each day, and we ask for at least 24-hours notice if you're unable to make your scheduled appointment. This allows us to fill vacant time slots with other clients in our care. Appointments cancelled or rescheduled with less than 24-hours notice will be billed in full.

We understand that it's not always possible to cancel in advance, and exceptions can be made at the discretion of your clinician.

Question 3

What are my options for paying for therapy?

Psychological services are not covered by British Columbia’s Medical Services Plan (MSP), unfortunately. However, your treatment may be partially or fully funded through one of the following funding services:
 
Extended Health Benefits - If you or a family member have extended health benefits, check with your insurance company (e.g., Pacific Blue Cross) to find out whether it includes coverage for psychological services with a registered psychologist, and if so, how much you are allotted per year. In the event that you have coverage, you will be billed directly for services and then you can request reimbursement from your insurance company.​
 
Crime Victims Assistance Program (CVAP) - You may be eligible for partially funded services through CVAP if you or an immediate family member have been victim or witness to violence, including physical and sexual abuse. Call 1-800-563-0808 and speak with a Victim’s Service Worker who can answer questions and offer assistance in applying for CVAP.

Military/Veterans & RCMP - Cove Centre offers direct billing through Medavie/Blue Cross for RCMP and members and veterans of the Canadian Armed Forces.

What is the difference between a Psychologist, Psychiatrist, and Counsellor?

"Psychologist" (abbreviated as R. Psych) is a title protected and regulated by the College of Health and Care Professionals of British Columbia (formerly the College of Psychologists of BC). Psychologists are a regulated profession under the Health Professions Act. In British Columbia, psychologists who hold a doctoral degree in psychology may use the title “Dr.” in the course of providing health services. To become a registered psychologist in British Columbia, one must complete an undergraduate degree (typically 4 or more years of postsecondary study), a doctorate in psychology (4–6 years of graduate training), a 1-year pre-doctoral residency, a period of supervised practice, and successfully pass 3 licensing examinations before registration. Psychologists are trained to assess, diagnose, and treat mental health conditions, primarily through evidence-based therapies and psychological assessments. "Psychiatrist" is a title protected and regulated by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia. Psychiatrists are a regulated profession under the Health Professions Act. As licensed physicians, psychiatrists may use the title “Dr.” when providing health services. To become a psychiatrist in British Columbia, one must complete an undergraduate degree, a medical degree, and a residency in psychiatry, followed by successful completion of licensing examinations. Psychiatrists are trained to assess, diagnose, and treat mental health conditions, primarily through medical management, including the prescription of medication.

"Registered Clinical Counsellor" (abbreviated as RCC) is a title granted by the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC), which sets membership standards and a code of ethics, but it is not regulated under provincial law like the title “Registered Psychologist” or “Psychiatrist.” To become an RCC, one must hold a master’s degree in counselling or a related field and meet BCACC’s requirements for supervised practice. RCCs are trained to assess and support mental health and wellbeing, primarily through talk-based approaches, and may offer a range of services that can be either clinical or non-clinical in nature, depending on their background and area of practice.

Terms like 'therapist,' 'life coach,' and 'psychotherapist' are not regulated or protected in British Columbia, meaning there are no unified or legally mandated standards for education, training, or ethical practice for these titles.

How do I start treatment with a provider at Cove Centre?

We currently have limited space for new, remote therapy clients living in British Columbia. If you'd like to get started with us, please fill out our contact form!

Our intake administrator will be in touch within 5 business days and connect you with a psychologist if we still have space for new clients.

Question 6

Can I pay with Interac Etransfer?

Accepted Answer

Yes! In fact, taking payments with Etransfer is our preferred method of receipt.

Etransfers can be sent to info@CoveCentre.ca (info@CoveCentre.ca)at any time. Auto-deposit should be enabled but should you need to provide a password, please use covecentre.
